Telling Stories: Life writing and memoir course 2016

A Writing Programme in Wellington

Dame Fiona Kidman will conduct a course of workshops over four Saturdays from August to September 2016: 6 August, 20 August, 3 September and 17 September.

Life writing, memoir, research techniques, and some aspects of fiction writing will be covered. With guest speakers: Harry Ricketts, poet, critic, academic and internationally acclaimed biographer of Rudyard Kipling (The Unforgiving Minute); Mary McCallum, publisher and author of award-winning novels The Blue, Dappled Annie and the Tigris; Peter Farrell, memoirist (The Lie That Settles), and others.

The course will run in the relaxed environment of Thistle Inn, 3 Mulgrave Street, Wellington. This is one of New Zealand’s oldest hotels, restored and developed with comfortable seminar and meeting rooms upstairs. The location is close to Wellington Railway Station and bus transport. Parking is available opposite the hotel. We regret that lift access is not offered.

The sessions begin at 9.30 a.m. and run until 4 p.m. Morning and afternoon teas will be catered and are included in the course fee of $875. Lunch is available in the bar for those who wish to purchase. There are tea and coffee making facilities for byo.

In order to provide a quality learning environment, numbers are strictly limited to 14.
